XU summa cum laude grad ranks ninth in CPA board exam

Marika Calagos Tan landed on the ninth highest spot in the October 2016
Certified Public Accountant (CPA) licensure examination.
Tan garnered a passing rate of 92.17% and shared the top 9 place with five other takers from other schools.

After
59 out of 103 examinees successfully took the CPA board exam, XU reaped
a passing rate of 57.28%, against the national passing rate of 36.48%.
“I
am very pleased to inform the community that in the October 2016
Certified Public Accountant Licensure Examination, XU had an examinee
who garnered the 9th highest place. Congratulations to Marika Tan and
all our new XU CPAs!” said XU president Fr. Roberto C. Yap SJ in his
message to the academic community.
“We
thank School of Business and Management dean Dr. Ruth Love V. Russell,
Accountancy Department chairperson Estela S Ganas, and the faculty and
staff of SBM for their guidance and support for our students,” he added.
The
Professional Regulation Commission announced on Thursday, October 20
that only 5,249 out of 14,390 passed the said exam conducted by the
Board of Accountancy in the cities of Manila, Baguio, Cagayan de Oro,
Cebu, Davao, Iloilo, Legazpi, Lucena, and Tacloban earlier this month.
