TAGUM City, Davao del Norte--A Philippine Tarsier (Carlito syrichta), the fourth among the sighted and rescued Tarsier, was found in one of the forested areas here on May 22. It was released later.
A certain Richard Pag-ong found the male Tarsier in a forest adjacent to the Bird Park in Barangay New Balamban sitting on the ground.
Pag-ong turned the Tarsier over to the staff of the Bird Park, who immediately reported to the City Environment and Natural Resources Office.
Mayor Allan L. Rellon, however, decided to bring back the Tarsier to its natural habitat by releasing it to the Bird Park, which was near to where it was seen, to ensure its survival by living in a perfect haven for such creatures.
On onder of Mayor Rellon, Committee Chair on Environment Councilor Rey Cyril T. Alba released the Tarsier back to its natural wildlife habitat.
The Tarsier was the first to be released at the Bird Park, while the previous three tarsiers were released at the Botanical Park of Tagum City last year.
