Xavier University-Ateneo de Cagayan opens Command Center to help IDPs of Marawi
IN an effort to help those Internally Displaced Persons
(IDPs) in Marawi City, a command center was established at the Xavier
University Peace Park, Corrales Avenue in Cagayan de Oro City on Saturday (May
27).
The Office of the Vice President, in coordination with Xavier University-Ateneo
de Cagayan, the city government of Cagayan de Oro and the Archdiocese of
Cagayan de Oro, opened the Relief and Response Command Center at Xavier
University to accept and repack donations for the IDPs of Marawi clash.Donations (cash and in-kind) will be accepted starting May 27 from 8 in the morning, said Adan Joseph Nagasangan of Office of the Vice President of the Philippines.
Thousands of residents fled after the Maute Group, linked to international
terror group ISIS, besieged Marawi City on the afternoon of May 23. The attack
prompted President Rodrigo Duterte to place the 27 provinces and 33 cities in
Mindanao under Martial Law effective 10 p.m. on May 23.
