Govt agency holds orientation-workshop on disaster preparedness

de Oro City--To build awareness and recognition on the
availability on National Disaster Preparedness Plan (NDPP) as roadmap
for Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (DRMM) and to generate
lessons learned on the Operation Listo implementation, Department of
Interior and Local Government conducted an Orientation-Workshop on the
Regional Planning for the Provincial Preparedness Dialogue in the city.
Dubbed
‘Operation,’ the program consists of disaster preparedness manuals that
contains procedures on the course of actions that need to be done by
local chief executuves (LCEs) before, during and after the occurrence of
disasters and calamities in their respective areas or
communities.(DILG10)
“The
idea is for us to reflect as to how important is the support of those
member agencies who are present here today, as well as our civil society
organizations (CSOs) and nongovernment organizations (NGOs), in our
effort in making everyone prepared should there be disaster that would
strike in any part of Northern Mindanao,” underscored DILG 10 Regional
Director Arnel M. Agabe in his opening message during the activity.
Furthermore,
director Agabe emphasized that, “We, in the government as well as our
partners, are in our respective positions to provide public service that
involves in ensuring the peace, security, safety, of our people.”
With
this, he highlighted the importance of looking into the Regional
Disaster Preparedness Plan (RDPP) and NDPP to come up with a highly
responsive and effective preparedness plan intended for the respective
localities and respective levels.
With
the aim to provide guidance and complementation engagement for the
implementation of the Provincial Preparedness and Partnership Dialogue
in all provinces, the said activity involved the members of Regional
Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Councils (RDRRMCs), Regional
Directors from local government (LG), Philippine National Police (PNP)
and Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), NGOs, Local Resource Institutes
(LRIs0, and other stakeholders.
Moreover,
the orientation-workshop looked into establishing shared understanding
of Operation Listo, familiarizing and ensuring common understanding on
the issues and possible strategies for the implementation of the
Provincial Preparedness Dialogue, and discussing vital issues and
challenges in the implementation of DRRM activities and to possibly
address them through a dialogue.
